In light of ongoing geopolitical tensions, understanding the complex political and social landscapes of Russia and Belarus has never been more crucial. This discussion will provide rare insights into the current situation in these two countries and their broader implications.

By joining this event, you will have the opportunity to hear from two distinguished speakers with direct experience in both countries: Nikolay Koblyakov, an entrepreneur and human rights advocate, and Maksim Salahub, a lawyer who has lived and worked in Belarus for years.

Speakers:

Nikolay Koblyakov: A French entrepreneur and human rights activist. After fleeing Russia in 2010 due to political pressure, he established himself in France, founding the association Russie-Libertés (Free Russia) to promote democracy and human rights. Nikolay has played a pivotal role in several international initiatives, including the February 2022 petition that contributed to international legal actions against top Russian officials. In addition to his activism, he is involved in business development, currently serving on the board of Senior Group Europe, where he works on elderly care facilities across Europe, including the Baltic States.

Maksim Salahub: Currently a senior counsel at Sorainen (Lithuania), who lived in Belarus for many years before relocating to Lithuania in 2024. He is an alumnus of the BMI.

Moderator: Mantas Dubauskas

The discussion will be held under Chatham House rules, ensuring an open and candid conversation.

This event is exclusively for BMI Executive Institute alumni and current students (subject to organizers review).
