It has become a nice tradition to end a clay season in Vilnius Bernardinai garden tennis courts, where 15 alumnus has gathered to celebrate nice, chilly and a bit sunny autumn Sunday while playing tennis.
Two groups of Advanced and Challenger players were formed and it took few dozen games to find out the strongest ones in this season.
Trophy of the Advanced group went to Giedrius Gečiauskas, who has defeated Darius Jasinskis (class VI). Darius has probably put songs of Ms. Ščiogolevaitė on his way home, as last year he has also lost the final match. As G. Gečiauskas has participated as a spouse of BMI Alumni, organizers of the event has taken his promise to become BMI student in the foreseeable future.
Lešek Mikšta (class X) has taken the prize for the third place after defeating Tomas Valiukevičius (class XII) after long and tiring match.
Emotions were high in Challengers’ group too, where Aurimas Zimnickas (class XVI) has defeated his classmate Arnoldas Nausėda 7:5. It was a probably a sad evening for Arnoldas as he has led the match 5:0 before giving away 7 straight games to Aurimas.
Vaiva Tyliene (class VI) made no surprise while defeating several gentlemen and ladies on the court and took the prize for the 3rd place.
While summarizing their impressions after the event, participants concluded that Tournament of doubles can be organized next spring.
Tournament organizers are especially thankful for sponsors who provided dozens of great prises and beverages: “Krasta Auto”, “Baltic Amadeus”, “Volf Engelman”, “Lindt” chocolate and “”Eladus”.
