On the 15th of September more than 20 members of the BMI Alumni (representatives of 10 different graduate years) participated in Vilnius Danske marathon for the first time as one BMI alumni team in all distances starting from 4,2 km. The majority of participants ran 10 km, but the most extreme of them proved to be Pranas Japertas (class IX), who ran a full marathon. Tauras Pėstininkas (I), Evaldas Bružė (XIII), Martynas Špokas (XII), Darius Sinkevičius (XIV), Vidmantas Liutkauskas (XIII), Antanas Bubnelis (X) challenged themselves in the half-marathon run.
The BMI Alumni have proved once more that they are not only good managers - we have won the third team place in the 10 km run and once more confirmed the fact that we can take the lead anywhere and anytime.
‚After the first week of respite I am still happy with the opportunity that was provided to me by the BMI alumni enthusiasts- to participate in the traditional Vilnius Danske marathon. In my opinion, it is one of those rare events which let you evaluate your personal traits, experience a lot of good emotions with friends, colleagues and even people that you do not know, but who have the same values as you do. It is a place where people can just smile or wave while passing each other and thus express the thought on everyone's mind - "we are awesome!" - which is even more prominent when you run into somebody with a BMI Alumni T-shirt.' Rokas Knyva (XII),10 km distance runner shared his impression of the event.
Giedrė Tarbūnienė (IV), another 10 km runner, said: „It was the second time I ran in such an event (the first was in Tallin SEB run), but I was amazed by how well it was organized and how many health enthusiasts were involved. I think that the BMI Alumni Team is a great unifying initiative despite the fact that every member has his/her own winning strategy and running pace. The after-event meetings in Danske VIP Zone, Sorainen pavilion and restaurant ZOE let me share the positive emotions that accumulated during the run with other people just like me. I was still happy about it when going to work the next day. Also, the BMI alumni T-shirt is of the highest quality and looks solid - I plan to participate in Nida run wearing it “.
The majority of the participants predicted their running time while registering. The most precise time was forecasted by and the special BMI Alumni prize goes to Vaida Kojalienė! She has planned a 10 km run time to be 00:59:30 and achieved 00:58:46. That's an error of only 44 seconds and the smallest % deviation from her forecast!
Many thanks go to the sponsors and enthusiasts of the BMI Alumni Association:
Tadas Karkalas, Danske Bank, – for the free registration of BMI Alumni team in the event and for invitations to the VIP zone,
Igoris Baikovskis, UAB Inchcape, and Tauras Pėstininkas, JSC Lexnet, – for sponsoring the production of the BMI Alumi T-Shirt.
